How I Stay Organized: The Passion Planner

I’m a little old school when it comes to my planner. I’ve tried the calendar on my phone and many different apps for my calendar and to-do lists, but I always fall back to good old fashioned paper.

The Passion Planner is more than just a calendar. It’s a tool to help you identify your passions and goals and actually achieve them. At the beginning of the planner, there is a section for you to dream big and map out different goals: lifetime goals, three year goals, one year goals, and three month goals. Then, from your list, you choose a “game changer” — the goal that would have “the most positive impact on your life right now.” You are encouraged to write down specific action steps, create a timeline, and add dates to break down your game changer. The idea is that by focusing on one goal, you will be more likely to actually achieve it. And to achieve it, you need to be specific and intentional.

Each month, there is a spot to revisit your passion map for you to choose a new game changer and create a new action plan. The weekly layout is also broken down with places for you to designate a focus for the week and for each day. Handy personal and work to-do lists help keep everything in one spot but also separated.

Another thing I love about my Passion Planner is that at the end of each month there is a spread with reflection questions, asking things like: what was the most memorable part of this month? What are the three biggest lessons you learned? What are three things you can improve on in this upcoming month? This monthly review has become an important part of my personal development, helping me to reflect on the lessons I am learning and ways I can improve and grow.

My only criticism is that there isn’t a Monday start calendar for the dated planners. I personally like to “start” my week on Monday because I like to look at my weekend all at one time rather than seeing it broken up at the beginning and end of the week.

If you are looking for a new planner or want to go back to paper, I highly recommend trying out a Passion Planner. If you are skeptical, you can try the planner for free by downloading the PDF here (I did to make sure I really wanted it and haven’t looked back!). If you do decide to go for it, you can buy it here!

I got a passion planner this year and it looks great. I’m thinking I should have got the compact version though. Oh well, looking forward to using it.
