July Reflection (2016)

“Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.” ― Margaret J. Wheatley

Each month, I set aside a chunk of time to reflect on the previous month: memorable moments, lessons I learned, how I spent my time, how I’m different, who/what I’m grateful for, improvements for next month, and goals to work toward. I want to be more intentional in my personal development this year, and posting each month serves as a way to help keep me accountable.

THREE LESSONS I LEARNED THIS PAST MONTH:

  • Chase your dreams. If you have a dream or passion, don’t wait until you’re older to pursue it. Set little goals now that help move you in the right direction. Even if you can’t drop everything now for your dreams, that doesn’t mean you can’t keep moving toward them.
  • Identify the lies you tell yourself and learn to let go of them. Sometimes it takes an intense emotional situation to even realize certain lies are there. But recognize them for what they are and don’t let them control you.
  • Never say never. I don’t say “never” very often because I’m not a huge fan of extremes (unless it’s skydiving). But I still say it every now and then. And I find that I still keep being proven wrong (always used to say that I would never go to Temple… lol). So never rule anything out completely (except for harmful things 🙈).

What big lessons have you learned over the past month? Share in the comments below!
