A lot has changed in a year!
This past Thanksgiving looked really different from my norm (hello, Austria!). But at the core, Thanksgiving is still the perfect time to reflect and show gratitude for the good things in your life. Joe and I spent a lot of time in the car on our road trip, so I’ve had plenty of time to think. I decided to compile a list of things I’m thankful for! So, in no particular order:
- Family who is supportive even with all of the craziness of the last couple months
- The opportunity to live in Italy
- God’s continual grace and love and forgiveness
- Gelato
- Facebook and Instagram (seriously, they make it so much easier to stay in contact with friends)
- The mountain range that I can see from our house
- Christmas markets! (I didn’t expect to have so much fun at the ones we visited this weekend)
- A democratic country that changes with its people
- Hamilton (the play… I’m addicted. Someday I’ll make it there)
- The growing number of fair trade and ethically sourced companies
- The desire and passion to travel
- Friends you can always pick up where you left off with
- Wonder Woman
- My nerdy side that I think will always love to learn, especially about history
- My 4 beautiful sisters and brother-in-law and my not-yet-brother-in-law who helped in my wedding ceremony
- Meeting new people
- Frozen pizza (it’s a lifesaver)
- A huge stack of books
- Amazon (which adds to that book stack)
- Elon Musk and others working for renewable energy
- Weekly phone calls with my mom
- Italian classes
- Growing up in America
- The right to vote and to have a voice
- Sending random presents
- Getting mail
- Working/reliable cars
- Tea
- Cheap plane tickets
- My travel buddy
- My new travel buddy (aka my husband)
- The internet
- Eggo waffles
- Comfy beds
- And comfy blankets!
- All you can eat sushi restaurants
- Backpacks (seriously, way better than purses and/or suitcases)
- The ability to be comfortable alone
- Netflix
- Yoga classes (teaching and taking them)
- Helpful military spouse Facebook groups
- Wine
- Fleece leggings
- Visitors! (hint hint)
- Working heat
- Speaking English
- European public transportation
- iPhones
- Portable batteries (for when my iPhone predictably dies)
- Dressember (shameless plug, donate here)
Obviously my list isn’t exhaustive. What would you add to it?!
Enjoyed your post! There is so much to be grateful for…. which makes me always think of others who are less fortunate. This is an idea I am trying to spread this holiday season as we all practice gratitude. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hidlnk1NC10 If you like it, please share it. Thanks, Rita
