I’ll Finally Be Able To Stop Saying No…

On a regular basis, I am asked if I am a yoga teacher. Well, here’s the answer:

No. I am not a yoga teacher.

BUT. Give me a few months (well, 8 to be more precise), and I will be. This week I took the jump, and enrolled in a yoga teacher training (YTT) program that starts this October!

I started practicing yoga a year and a half ago, and it’s not an understatement to say that it has changed my life. Yes, there are tons of physical benefits, but the mental clarity and growth I’ve experienced have extended “off the mat.”

Because I have found so much benefit through my yoga practice, I want yoga to be something that everyone feels like they can have access to. Chances are if yoga has ever come up in a face-to-face conversation, I’ve tried to get you to come to a yoga class with me 😉 Many people I talk to don’t think they are strong enough or flexible enough to try yoga — which couldn’t be farther from the truth!

While I love to try crazy new yoga poses, there is so much benefit we all (myself included!) can get from practicing foundational poses that anyone can do. And I want to help others learn how to build a yoga practice that works for them.

Yoga teacher training is something I’ve thought about for a long time.  I love helping others in their yoga practice, but often don’t feel equipped to do so since I’ve never had any formal training. I always say I’ll become a yoga teacher someday — after I’ve saved more money and have more free time.

But recently, I’ve had an overwhelming urge that I need to enroll in YTT sooner rather than later. The expense of YTT has been my main hesitation, but everything else in my life seems to be lining up. Once I got the idea in my head I couldn’t get it out, and finally made the commitment for this fall (I found a program that seems like a great fit!).

As always, there’s a lot more to the story than I have time for in this blog post. To get more of the backstory on why I am doing this training and a bit of the “big picture,” hit me up and we can talk 🙂
